ABOUT
As you’ve probably gathered by now, I go by Cuttlefish, but my real name is Sadie McAuley-Alexander, and I’m a human. I brood about somewhere in London, where I animate, draw, write, and do comics, which I’m only just now embracing as my primary art form – at least the one I’m able to effectively tell my stories with. I’ve done stories for as long as I’ve done drawings, which is ages, and so it’s unsurprising that I have plenty of them in my head which I want to push out into the world like a child who hasn’t left home in 36 years.
A lot of these usually steer toward over the top campy melodrama spliced with blunt, absurdist comedy – starring wacky looking creatures and the occasional mentally unstable human, but that being said, some of them may stray from the regular genres, perhaps being a bit more serious, or a tad more comedic, etc. Other recurring “trademarks” you’ll find in these comics of mine are intimate character based storylines heavily inspired by things from real life and unsubtle nods and references to Britain, from which I live, because I like sharing things about my culture that not many would know about otherwise – plus, it’d make my work stand out from other, often American-centric, comics on the web.
That being said, don’t expect my comics to remain free and web-exclusive forever. I would like to live a life largely independent from the Internet and actually pursue the comic and/or animation industry (that is, if our robot overlords haven’t completely dominated them by that point). But, until I learn a smidgen about self publishing, my comics will remain as such. However, there is still a chance that the comics will remain free to read on the web, AND have printed copies for the more dedicated to buy – it’ll depend on how nice I’m feeling that day.
Until that day comes, please enjoy reading through these stupid stories that have lingered in my head for almost all my life.
